The Irish Seal Sanctuary believe that education is key to increasing our awareness
and understanding of marine wildlife and their habitats, particularly seals and our coastline,
to ensure the continued conservation of local and global biodiversity and our overall wellbeing
on earth. We believe that it is important for communities to take ownership and pride in their
local natural environment to ensure its continuous existence. By providing knowledge and
information on our marine environment, it empowers people to make good decisions for wildlife
and their local environs. The Irish Seal Sanctuary believes in a nation full of nature watchers.
The Irish Seal Sanctuary Education Programme 'Seals & Sea Life' provides a series of
educational talks and activities for both Primary , Secondary Schools
and Community Groups on request.
The Seals & Sea Life Programme will discuss the biology (the body), ecology
(their lives and habitats) and conservation of seals. It will display the work of the
Irish Seal Sanctuary as a wildlife hospital and rehabilitation facility for injured,
abandoned and sick marine wildlife, particularly seals and our work in their rescue,
rehabilitation and ultimate goal of their release back into the wild.
